Art Deco painter and illustrator and the greatest Spanish exponent of the style. At the age of 21 he was awarded a grant to study in Paris, where he moved in the same circles as Gargallo, Picasso, José Clara, Juan Gris and Modigliani.
He regularly exhibited at the official Parisian salons. He lived in Paris and New York. From the age of 20 he also established himself as an illustrator, collaborating with the "Gazette du Bon Ton", "Le Gout du Jour" etc. He regularly did illustrations for "Vogue" and "Vanity Fair".
In his later years García Benito focused on painting, especially murals and portraits. In 1962 he returned to Spain for good.
In 1974 the United States Congress passed a motion to thank him for the cultural work that he did in that country.
